I'm fascinated with coral defense mechanisms. I don't like for my corals to go to war but it's part of keeping a reef. It will happen to everyone if you're in the hobby long enough. I'd like to see others experiences with different corals battling for space on the reef.

Acan vs Chalice: Acan wins

Green Millepora vs Blue Snowflake Polyps (Sansibia): I call this a draw. I was able to save frags of the green Milli and the Sansibia vanished in the area but there is still a ton in the tank. It's like they nuked themselves to take out the Milli.

Here's a rainbow montipora growing over some zoanthids and what was left of a birdsnest colony:

Very cool thread. Great pictures guys. My echinata is one of the nastiest corals in my tank. It was over 2 inches away from a large acan colony and killed about 1/4 of it before I realized what had happened. Never thought to take pictures of it though.

There is a line of skeleton between this red acan and the cyphastrea, surprisingly the cyphastrea is the one pushing back the acan. There's never any massive attacks, but usually once a week I have to blow the sweepers off one of the acan polyps.

The nuclear greens are now entirely surrounded by the cyphastrea and that fight seems to be a stalemate.

The orange acan echinata in the top right has gone on one attack and took out half the dark brownish green acan to the left of it, but thankfully I saw that in time to blow off the threads before it nuked the whole colony.

These are great pictures! I will have to post a picture of my caps growing into each other. They look pretty cool.

the two BNs grew intertwining with each other with little damage, but this is what happened when an acro got involved...
