Shrimp ingredients for nem

i bought raw shrimp to feed the nem and inverts , but noticed on the ingredients it has sodium tripolyphosphate and salt .
Is it safe to be in my system and for fish too?

Most of us who feed seafood will either feed fresh or something like LRS or Rods...etc.

If you used the store bought stuff would it kill your tank? Who knows, probably not, but I personally wouldn't chance it. Besides, why would you want to add even more phosphate to your tank then necessary just because it was used as a preservative?

On a second note, I never feed my bubble tips and they split like crazy.
One year ago I had 4 now I got 40.
These are not your everyday nems I got and many can’t believe I don’t feed them.

It's honestly a personal choice of risk vs reward. I'm sure at some point somebody will pop into here and say they feed that same stuff without problem and have for 10 years. Hence it's easier for us to give people food for thought and let them make their own decision. There are very few things I will specifically tell people not to do (messing up treatment protocols...etc.), hence most folks who you will find will give suggestions and tell you what they would do, but won't specifically tell you what to do.

If your nutrients are stable and feed a balkanced food to your fish corals include nems don’t need additional food.

I do agree light being their main source of energy they do not need to be spot fed at all.
Really if they are fed, small foods filtered are probably more natural.

As to constant reproduction, I don't see that as a definite sign of success, most of the time that is due to stress, can't swear that is always, but they are animals that live 50-100 years or more, and w/ little predation should not need to reproduce that often.

just get the prepared frozen cubes in the fish area at LFS \ Petco\ Petsmart. Safer and easier.

Even with lighting, nems benefit from an occasional meal... one a month or bi-weekly. On the point about reproduction -- healthy happy nems don't split often, when they do is because a stressor is introduced. Instead, they just get bigger... and maybe sometimes spawn (but you don't want this unless you have a massive system -- the bioload will cripple your tank)

Why risk it? Eat them and go get some LRS.

Honestly, I've had better success with BTAs not feeding them. They always seem to get some floating or a clown spits some in them.
Personally, I think some are genetically more prone to splitting.....in addition to the way some split when shocked by parameters. I've gone years and years without one ever splitting. I picked up a couple locally that were from a line that splits often and I have 5 now starting with two about 4 months ago.....with no big swings or issues in the tank.

I like it when my clown grabs an obscenely large piece of food it knows it can't eat and just delivers it to her nem buddy - "Here you go friend. Its om nom time".

I'm one of the guys that doesn't target feed BTAs. I broadcast and they get enough snacks that way + clownfish help.

My fairly newish bali picasso's just started doing this, love it, feels like a true symbiotic relationship, which is what drew me into clowns and nems originally long ago.
Lately I feed Rods food more often for this reason, there's always good sized chunks that promote this activity, and I'm amazed how far my clowns will swim for that chunk cause it's the only time they leave their nem.

Nail right on the head buddy. Its so satisfying to see it. I've had to move 4 times since getting into the hobby (I consider myself a pro at tank moves now since I feel like I've made every mistake possible). When I move my BTA rocks often times I don't need to net/catch the clowns because they embed themselves soooo deeply into their nem they just move into the tote along with it (I refer to this as the Clownfish-nem Taco of Love).

Funny thing is my pink skunks aren't even naturally hosted by BTAs, but they're inseparable. I know the designer clowns, occs and soforth are all the rage, but I'll keep preaching on how awesome my skunkies are(at least to anyone who will read my posts, or holds still long enough in the lfs)!

Love the skunks myself as well, usually more peaceful, often easily adaptable to most any nem given

Mysis is fine, I do broad spectrum to fish and my nem may pick up some, I just don't go out of my way for it really.
Once in a blue moon I'll give a small piece of scallop for giggles
