Good morning everyone. I've done some searching and really don't seem to be getting any useful insight from my reading so far. I was hoping that those of you who have experienced my problem or know BTAs very well might be able to help me with my current situation.
In March of 2019 I purchased a BTA from Vivid Aquariums. My tank was relatively new (5 months) and I didn't seem to have the hang of keeping my parameters in check at that point. Water quality stressed the BTA and it split into two. Both did quite well for several months and stayed right next to one another. After 4 and a half months of being in the tank one began to retract. This one was the smaller of the two and was a litter further back than the other so I suspected that it wasn't getting sufficient light. 3 weeks later it still had not opened up and was turning white all over. I noticed that the other was now shrinking back as well. Everything I found online was pointing to the smallest of the two dying and I was concerned that its health was somehow affecting the larger one that had been fine up until this point. With a heavy heart, I removed the smallest of the anemone from the tank. It has been a month since that point and my anemone shows now signs of improvement. It used to be open and extended every day and while it didn't have the largest bubbles, it wasn't thin either.
Does anyone know what is happening? I have two rock flower anemones in my tank and a maxi mini and everyone of them seems to be fine.
My tank parameters are:
Temp: 79
Salinity: 1.026
Alkalinity: 9.0dkh
pH: 7.8
Ammonia: 0-0.1ppm
Nitrite: 0 ppm
Nitrate: 0-5 ppm
Calcium: 440 ppm
Magnesium: 1360
Phosphate: 0.03 - 0.01 ppm
Lights are Current USA Marine IC Pro (two lights)
9hr full spectrum light + 3hr Actinic
Dual 230 Maxspec Gyre
Anemones were being fed about once every 4 weeks - small piece of shrimp. This was most recently rejected by the large, remaining anemone even though the piece was only ~ 1/2" x 1/4" x 1/4"
Please note attached picture from a week ago. Lights are not yet on this morning. Anemone does not even open this much any longer.
