I have had my tank up and running for 5 years, and have had two clowns and a Benghai cardinal the entire time.
One of my clowns just started breathing heavy and laying on the bottom two days ago.
This is following an algae RX treatment. I killed back my algae, notice my skimmer overflowed and started water changes again. That day the fish started acting funny.
Ive since done 4-20% water changes, and added an ammonia binder.
Ammonia never got above 0.25 and nitrates and phosphates are 0.3 and 0.12 respectively.
Im treating this fully like its an ammonia issue, but my biggest question is 'is it possible this is Brooklynella?' I haven't added any outside coral, water or fish in roughly a year. And in the past 3 years I've added frags that are always heavily dipped. Could I only be seeing a reaction now.
I am watching parameters closely, barely feeding, and keeping an airstone near my return pump. I can continue doing water changes if it helps.
Looking for some advice on how to proceed.
Thank you in advance.
