My seahorse is sick. He only wants to float at the top of the aquarium and he is not eating. My water parameters are good. I am not sure what to do to help him. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, he ate a little this morning. I had to feed him from a dropper. He won't follow the food otherwise. I tried feeding him this afternoon and he wouldn't eat. His not trying to swim down just floating on top.

Hi, I had the filter off while I was trying to feed him. I turned it back on and he went to the bottom, swam around for a little while and then floated to the top again. Now he is just floating at the top letting the current move him around. I don't see any bubbles under his skin.

For a while he was curling in a circle and swimming towards the bottom. Now he is just floating at the top again. Hasn't eaten. Just a little this morning. Thanks.

Is there a chance that it has pouch emphysema? (gas in pouch can be released with rubber tipped bobby pin to open pouch while in vertical position)
Other than that, it should be placed in a hospital tank with artificial hitching, open ended airline for heavy aeration, dropping the temperature as low as possible to 68°F, and treat with Furnan II and Tri Sulpha for the recommended period.
If it doesn't eat, try enticing it with live foods, preferably enriched.

Place your hand over him with ur fingers pointing down and cuped( like a cage) and take him to bottom of tank gently and slowly then hold him down there preferably over or near a place for him to hitch at 77 degrees u should be able to keep ur hand in water a little bit. Hold him there for a minute to a minute n half and see if he stays. It definitely sounds like air bubble issues. After holding him down ( near something to hitch to) he should be able to keep himself down there after ur sure he has a good hold This has worked for me many times only difference is the water I did it in was 35 degrees on my boat in ocean if that doesn’t help try whatever rayjay said I wish u luck n hope all goes well. By way 77 is to warm for seahorses unles ur making seahorse soup
