Simplicity skimmer keeps losing water via overflow

I have a new tank up and running but my skimmer keeps losing nasty stuff via the overflow valve. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to capture this waste? I have tried to take a photo to show the water leaking from the overflow .

I am assuming the skimmer cup has the drain hole. If this is where it’s leaking you can buy a rubber plug if your skimmer did not come with it. The other option is to get a piece of silicone hose that fits over the drain. If that drain is higher that the edge of your sump you can drain it into a bucket . This is how it’s done with external skimmers.
