Just wanted to leave a review for anyone in the market for a skimmer. About a year ago I moved into a new house and I set up a new frag tank shortly after. I didn't have a whole lot of money to fork out at the time so I was looking for more budget friendly options. I decided to go with a Simplicity 240. I have tried and used many skimmers such as Reef Octopus, Bubble Magus, Nyos which all were great skimmers, but this was my first Simplicity. This thing has not skipped a beat since. Out of all the skimmers I've owned, I've had to fidget with this one the least. It just works. Very happy with this thing and won't hesitate to put another one on my other tanks when they need one. If you're in the market for a skimmer, I don't think you'd be disappointed getting one.

I've been using them for a few years and I can't say anything bad about them. They seem to perform as well as the higher-priced brands. The company quickly replaced parts that arrived damaged too, without any fuss.

The only thing I notice about them is they seem to "grow beards" just like yours. Even with a tube going from the drain to a waste receptacle, the foam lifts the lid. Sometimes adding a weight to the top helps, but sometimes the foam is just too viscous!

Yep, very happy with mine. Yes they do grow a beard sometimes. I'm not able to use the drain like I'd like to because the cup sits lower than my sump and I can't drain it out unless I put something in the sump. I'm in the habit of cleaning my skimmer every 3 days anyhow so I don't think it would save me much work anyway. I'm just glad I don't have to constantly tinker with it.

Lol yes it is. You can attach a hose and a valve. Open up the valve when you need to drain it and put a cup underneath to catch it. No removing the cup as often unless to clean it.

I've been pricing a tank Upgrade, and was considering a simplicity skimmer. I'm glad to hear it works well
Yep, no issues. Only negative I can say was the micro bubbles during the break in period. After a few months no more bubbles. I rarely have to tune it. Very happy so far.

I’ve had mine for over 2 years now and really like it. It’s been harder to dial in now with lower nutrients but I’ll eventually find a way.
Add more fish or feed more. I'm running into the opposite. I have too many nutrients. Going to have to upgrade to a 320 soon.

Tank is full for now and I feed twice a day. Water is just cleaner and I’m not used to it. I don’t have room for the 320. Wish I did.
