What's with the face? You don't like it there? I was under the impression that you did.

So I started the major counter attack against AEFW.

I'm writing this down here so that I can keep it as journal as well to help others who may go through this.

Besides the common and usual methods of

* Prestine water condition for the acros and other livestocks.

* Manual removal of worms and the eggs. (Outside the tank ofcourse using hands, tweezers, and pumps).

More calculated and measured attacks.

* Re plumbing my return so it goes straight to UV before a drop of water hits my display tank.

* Finding natural predators for the AEFWs.

1. Camel Shrimps
2. Hawaiian 4 line wrasse
3. Yellow corris wrasse
4. Velvet nudibranch

I'm going to create a contraption box in my sump dedicated to camel shrimps.

I will buy 3 of them and put a timer on then insert acro for 10 mins for the shrimps to manually remove the worms and the egg sacks that I can't reach.

Why on a timer? Because if the food source runs out, they will eat the tissue of the SPS.

Ordered four line and yellow corris for the display.
Key to success with them is to find the small specimen.

Velvet nudi, I ruled out due to the low success rate of keeping them alive.

* Supplement your tank to keep your SPS in optimal condition so it will be able to produce more mucus to defend themselves.

I will be using Julian's Acropower to supplement Amino acid as well as trace elements.

I will keep you guys updated.

My new addition to my tank.

Thorough all my years of reefing never seen one like this before.

Green with purple tints and very bright distinctive coloration of Jason Foxx Blood shots on it's mouth.

I shall name this RB Bloodshots Fungia if I can't find a real name for it. Wow!!

Siptang,

First thing I need to say is beautiful tank. Reading your story and how you turned to the tank to be therapeutic is exactly why I am here as well. My wife lost her sister to breast cancer. We are in our late 20's and her sister was early 30's and she was my wives best friend. It was so hard on the entire family. I don't wish stuff like that on my worst enemy. Its been really hard on my wife. It's going on about 2 years and it seems the pain hasn't gotten any easier for her. As my niece says "You never really get over it, you just find a way to get around it". We recently moved into our forever home and I decided a reef tank might bring her some therapy and help her "get around it". She doesn't seem overly interested but has been keeping an eye on the project and I have been including her in on decisions and planning. I really hope it helps her in some way. I also want to expose our children to tank keeping, and the symbiotic relationship of everything in the reef/ecological system. I think we all as an entire family will enjoy it.

I do have some questions. Do you have a thread about the mechanics of your tank and routine? I'd love to see how you are running your system and doing what you are doing so well. I think there is a lot to be learned from you. :)

Hi,

Thank you for the compliment. This is a tribute tank to my son... who shared the love and excitement with me while he was here with us.. I know what you guys are going through and I agree whole heartedly that we wouldn't wish this up on our worse enemies... I'm terribly sorry for the loss that your family had to endure.. it's really never easy and you will never forget but it will numb down as time goes by.. I hope that you can find the peace and comfort through as you output your energy into something positive and creative.

I do not have a thread about the mechanics of my tank but I will post it in this thread for you so that it may help you create your own slice of ocean. I'm not at a level to really help anyone but I will do what I can to help you at best of my abilities.

Please feel free to ask about anything and tell me what direction you want to go with your tank and like I said before, I will do my absolute best to help.

Richard.

Put together 2 different types of Aussie Blastos together. Hopefully I will have interesting flower batch growing soon.

New additions through trades and some from work.

Scoly is coming back nicely after some tissue recession.
