This is probably a dumb question, but what does it it look like when a coral is growing more skeleton?? I have been able to get growth on corals without a skeleton, but after doing much better on dosing, water changes, feeding, etc. lately I think some of my LPS is growing skeleton and trying to expand finally. There is white areas spreading on a few like the images, but I havent been able to find any confirmations on what skeletal growth looks like anywhere

+1 for sponge but they're only potentially harmless when they're not growing on the coral. Otherwise they can smother it. I'd remove them. Coral skeletons form internally. You won't see them from the outside of a healthy coral. Instead the coral will look bigger/thicker or more branched as it grows.

Pull that off.

When a LPS coral is growing skeleton, it looks like the coral is getting bigger. That's how they grow- they expand their flesh outward, with the skeleton inside growing along with it. Like how you don't see a kid's bones sticking out as they grow.

It's a sponge. Great filter feeder. I'll bet there are more than you can see!
