Since I have added the sump to my 40B I tried moving my Reef Octopus Classic 100 to the sump area meant for my planned in-sump skimmer but wasnt pulling anything so I added it back to the back of the DT. I've done some looking around and would prefer not to spend more than $200 on the new skimmer. So I found the CoralBox D300 I like the control-ability of that I can use with my Reef Angel, or the Icecap K2-50. I've seen members sumps that have pulled some nice dark skimate but really havent seen anything on the coralbox d300 though. Thanks all for your input.

Icecap K2 skimmers are 25% off right now. Take a look a t the K2-120. It is a 4” diameter skimmer and would be perfect for a 40 breeder with some room to grow. It uses a very reliable, energy efficient, easily replaceable and non proprietary Sicce SK200 needlewheel pump. I owned one and it performed very well, pulling nice thick sludge. It is very solidly built with thick cast acrylic. IMO the K2-50 would be too small.

With the 25% off sale, it’s goiing for about $210.
