I'm not sure what the reason behind this is, but my skimmer use to produce a nice dark green sludge that stank. Now it's not producing that sludge as much and just a bunch of bubbles that don't dissipate. I'm assuming something with the air?? Anyone got any answers. Don't really know what to do.

Neo nitro, neo phos. Started to dose micro bacteria clean for a dino outbreak but the skinner was doing this before I started dosing

It's not getting enough air. Time to clean the pump, venturi, and air line.

There is nothing to do; thats how a protein skimmer functions.

Yah I can do that. It's just weird how there appears to be plenty of air and bubble production but the foam doesn't break down.

Looks normal to me.

A least it looks like one of the variable themes my skimmer goes through depending upon what it is removing.
Different forms of organics produce different types of skimmate.

You will probably find that it goes back to your normal once it has removed whatever it's processing at the moment. Maybe something died.

Well, The foam is not breaking down so it's not doing something right like it did before

When the foam breaks down, it suggests too much water in the skim mate. Your protein skimmer is fine. Clean the cup and keep going.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
