For those of you using a Rubbermaid tub as a sump, how did you set up your skimmer?

I am looking to use a rubbermaid tub as my sump in my fish room because of the water volume and was just wondering what is the best way to set up the skimmer in said sump. Do I use a smaller tub inside of the main tub as a skimmer section or do I just put it on a stand in the sump?

An ATO will keep the level in the sump stable enough to not worry about it for skimmer. Have a stand to raise the skimmer will allow you to have more water in the sump, it works towards your goal of water volume. Also recirculating skimmer will worth a consideration as it don't care about water level.

Regarding smaller tub, you don't really need that, but if you do use it, put the return pump in it, not the skimmer. That tub will basically be your return chamber and only place water level will change.
