skimmer pump upgrade?

i have a ASM G2 protein skimmer and came with a sedra 3500 pump. its been running for over 5 years and finally died. i see sedra makes a slightly larger pump a 5000 model, does any think this would benefit me to put the larger pump on? anyone ever something like this? or will it turn my skimmer into a fountain. i'm just trying to improve what i have without spending a lot. Thanks

I've not added a larger pump to the ASM, but I have added larger pumps to my Skimmer when the original one died on me, worked out well for my tank.

Thanks RM, I am always looking for ways to go bigger, quieter, better. Sometimes I get in trouble fixing somthing thats not broke. I just ordered a new 3500 replacement pump, its done its job and I cant complain about 5 yrs 24/7 service !

SICCE is now offering skimmer pumps as a direct replacement to the Sedra's on the ASM skimmers.
