by that do you mean K+ and A- ? that does make mine act up a bit but only add 5 ml of each once a day. I think something is making your skimmer be overactive, It does not make sense otherwise . Maybe air line plugged?
I doubt that's the issue I'm experiencing. I'm not dosing much

It's just Ca Kh and mag

Does anyone have a skimmer they set and forget about ?? I'm tired of tuning my quantum nyos daily. It's the last piece of equipment that requires way too much attention. It's roughly 100 gallons overall
Bashsea twisted skimmer is my vote

I’ve had 2 to 3 brands. Only one I remember what I dubbed the Nyos toilet bowl.
Then I got a reef octopus 150 int. That puppy didn’t even need a break on period.this was about a year ago. I will only buy reef octopus from here on out.

I suspect that your skimmer may be oversized for your aquarium if you're constantly having to make adjustments.

Aside from certain chemicals(causes overflowing)/oily foods(major micro bubbles due to being unable to hold foam temporarily)/dying or dead pump, all brands of skimmers I've used have been consistent in performance as long as they're not oversized (Asm, seaside, bubble magus, reef octopus, royal exclusiv, deltec, cpr, aqua excel, and definitely more that I'm not remembering)

Lifereef. Jeff makes them by hand. Tons of great reviews.

Get an external skimmer. Best thing I ever did. Not reliant on any water level. Hook the collection cup drain into a large container like a 1G jug. Empty the jug every so often. Nothing else to do ever with it. I got a Reef Octopus Regal 300EXT with an auto neck cleaner. It is awesome!!!

Reef Octopus and Red Sea are the only two brands of skimmer I would ever get.

My favorite skimmer is the Deltec 1000i because it's DC, quite, has a scrapper in the lid, and has an automatic fail safe not to overflow the skimmer cup. I also have a Reef Octopus S130, Red Sea RSK300, NYOS 220, and coral box d300+. The Coral Box is my 2nd favorite cause it's DC, easy to adjust, and has a float switch shut off in the collection cup.

I don't like the Red Sea cause it's loud with the AC pump. Mainly cause the pump click's into the base to hold it in place and is made of cheap plastic.

I have 180 gallon total water volume with tank and sump. I started out with the Reef Octopus 110-ss Classic, worked as it should, set and forget it. I moved it to my ozone system and set it low to have no skimming but aerate the ozone. I now have the 150-ss Classic and it just flat out works as it should, set and forget it.
I think a lot of newer skimmers just have too much going on to make them user friendly.

Deltec.... I had a Octo 200 Elite INT. Was a good skimmer but you would have to adjust it. After feedings it could take as long as 30-40 minutes to start skimming again. Replaced it with a Deltec 1500i. Set and forget. It takes 2 days to get as much junk out as the Octo did in a little more than three days. After feeding it starts skimming again in about 15 minutes. Break in was about 2.5 hours and it started skimming. Hasn't stopped since.

I’ve had Deltecs that have been running non stop for years.

Literally, not an exaggeration. I dont turn them off when I clean the cup. Would never use anything else.
