If you are concerned with the skimmer being too large for a system based on bioload then I would consider the option of only running the skimmer part of the day instead of 24x7. I don't have this model but the reef octopus skimmer I have on my temp tank is only being running a few times a week since it is sized for a tank twice the size of my temp tank which only has a light bioload of 6 fish and corals.

With oversized skimmers one can expect intermittent foam production when waste is available. A skimmer that is more sized to the system will have a consistent foam head. I've never noticed a difference in tank health with either configuration. Now an undersized skimmer, that's another story.
