I am planning on building a canopy to house my lighting on my in wall tank. A concern of mine is tank access so I am considering building a sliding canopy.
Had a few ideas but getting some pocket door hardware is what I was thinking. Track would mount to the ceiling and then to the canopy itself. Could even do a floating canopy if I wanted. The tank is 5 ft long do the track would be 10ft in a perfect world but if I off centered the hardware I could get away with shorter.
Does anyone have any ideas that would get the job done for less?

Have you considered building a “shelf” over it for sliding? There are plenty of shelving hardware available at a decent cost that would even enable a 90 degree turn (thinking similar to some office cabinets that the front face of the drawer comes up and over). Another idea that just came to mind would be something similar to the sun shades people put on their patios, but with a rust/mold resistant/proof material. Then could automate/mechanically roll it up? These are just random ideas but something to get some thoughts going. Keep us updated as I’m curious what you come up with.

I dont quite understand your shelf idea.
Due to space constraints going upwards is not an option.
I'll get some photos of the space to better portray the situation.
Thanks for the ideas. I'm sure it will evolve over the next few weeks.
