Slowly making the transition to saltwater. Here is the tank I'll be using, slowly starting to rehouse all the fish to drain, clean out and setup the tank.

So far I have a protein skimmer, term II, and materials to build a sump/refugium. I'll be getting some pumps and powerheads in the next week or so after childcare checks have cleared. This tank is not drilled so ill do a HOB overflow. I'll be posting more pictures in the coming weeks when the sump is done.

Great idea, but with one baby and another on the way space and money is kind of a factor here. Also for starting out, I figured it's better than converting my little ten gallon tank and my wife won't let me touch the 36 bow front tank, that's hers for goldfish.

Protein skimmer ready to go. Just ordered mag drive 9.5. Next I'll be getting some wave makers and then start finding homes for the fresh water fish and drain/clean the tank soon. I'll be posting more pictures in the near future after I build my sump/refugium.

Petco just started the $1 per gallon in my area, so I finally got a 40b that I will use for my sump. One step closer to the final conversion. I'll be on here a lot more at that point. I think the next equipment will be power heads. For a simple fowlr tank would two power heads, one on each side of the tank, suffice for my needs?

Been so long since my last post.

So equipment wise I think I'm good to get started. Now I need to start getting sand and live rocks, setup the refugium and modify the tank stand to fit the 40g breeder, didn't know they were so deep, and then I'm ready for water. This has been a long process but the end is in sight.....well at least the next stage, managing a sweet saltwater ecosystem!

Found a new home for the fish now it is time to clean the tank, modify the stand and start building it up.

Good question. I have not used any copper based meds or any meds in this tank. I had a separate tank for treating sick fish and only used pimafix and melafix.
