Hello everyone I am new to the saltwater hobby so bear with me! Recently starting a 20gal and through the recommendation of my LFS I used Aquavitro Seed and one clownfish to start cycle. My ammonia is reading .50 ppm and nitrites are 0 it’s been this way for about the last 3 days. (API Test kit)
Is this the ammonia spike of my cycle?
I am probably being impatient lol.
p.s. I used live sand dry rock and imagitarum Pacific Ocean water if this helps.

When did you add water to the tank? And I believe fish should not be exposed to ammonia levels higher than .25. The tank should be fully cycled before adding fish. They shouldn’t be used to start a cycle.

Tank is 5 days old and the bottle bacteria said to add fish. I’ve also read that you shouldn’t but likewise that it’s fine to do so. Just went with the instructions in this case. Thanks for the reply!
