Small BTA

Has anyone had any success keeping BTA small? I’m considering one for my 6 gallon AIO but I don’t want it to get massive. I want it to stay about 2” across so it doesn’t ruin the scape

They get bigger. The challenge with small anemones is that sometimes clownfish will harass them to death.

Yeah, you can’t stop an animal from growing. You can slow it down by feeding less, but bta’s will get much bigger and split frequently. Rock flower anemones stay relatively small (usually under 6”), but they aren’t a hosting anemone for clowns.

Shouldn't have clowns in a 6gal either way. To answer the question is yes it will get bigger. They don't require food at all and will continue to grow just from the lighting. Attempting to reduce lighting to slow growth isn't something to consider.

If you’ll have other corals, in that small a tank, I’d avoid it tbh. More of a pain than anything. It will likely move when initially placed in the tank and you’ll have little control over where it settles. With good water params, lighting and periodic feeding, it will grow and may even split. Not the easiest to get off rocks once they settle down either if you later decide to remove

mine stays small, when it gets fed by me (the 2 clowns i have), it grows and splits , i usually remove the extras and just keep the original. trading or selling the extras.
