Small clowns. What size to add?

Hey everyone. Just lost a recently purchased clown that seems to have had issues about a week after receiving it, but that's not a huge deal.

We have about a half inch single clown now in a 20g. Pretty young and very healthy. Should I add another that is bigger or smaller than this one? This is the first one I've lost due to a disease, and both clowns this small. Thanks!

Most important thing is to find out what disease killed the clown so it can be treated for.
As for adding a clown, at this size it probably isn’t too important to get one vastly different, but it’s usually a good bet to get one a bit smaller.

How long has your clown thats left been in the tank? If awhile try and find one smaller then what you have. Could be issues if you dont due to dominance and the clown being used to being the only one on the tank if not and still fairly new you could be safe to go either way. Anyone else have an opinion on this? Got my two together same time acclimated and added

It ended up going down from mouth rot. I got it in qt probably a little too late from trying prasi pro and realizing it wouldn't fix the issue. Did a big water change after that.

It had completely cloudy eyes on both before that. We've had them since January, qtd. No other issues in that tank whatsoever.

It seems hard to find them this little unless I order one. I'll check my lfs maybe tomorrow. They usually have a good selection.
