I'm in the process of adding a small frag tank to my current 120 system. I just drilled a 10 gallon for practice. The frag tank's water will come straight from the display. I have a spare 70w HQI hanging around and was wondering if anyone knew how large I could go with a 70w HQI. I was thinking a 15 or 20 tall would be better and then having the SPS on the top 3rd, LPS in the middle and softies at the bottom(this is all on egg crate of course).
***Halide will be 3" or so from the surface of the water.

I might run some actinic supplements as well. I have an assortment of 420nm, 450nm and 20000k 3w LEDs.

Any help with this would be great.

Running it that close to the water is going to heat it up. I know its going to becoming from the display but I think over time the water in the frag tank will be hotter then the rest of the tank water

I could move it to 5" or so but most of the flow in this tank will hopefully be from the return pump. I got one of the rotating return accessories you attack to the pump input. I'm running LEDs in my main tank which is normally 78-79. 1 or 2 degree spike shouldn't cause that many issues right?
