Hello everyone, I recently have a question is that if my small tank about 40g, but I use a big protein skimmer which is suitable for about 400g.
What is the disadvantages to my tank?
And what's the benefits of extra big skimmer?

Agree, too big and you can strip your water of vital nutrients. This is where DC skimmers shine. You can buy one that's for a bigger tank and dial it back, but nothing that is 10x your current tank. This is one of those cases where bigger isn't always better.

If it happens to be a heavily stocked FOWLER, however, you probably don't need the good stuff to keep the fish happy :D, and bigger could help with the bio load. If a reef tank, maybe you could just crank it down. My thoughts, anyway. I like over-sized skimmers.

If so ,can I feed more heavily to my fish and corals to cover the nutrients pulled by big skimmer.

I post this thread is because some of my acros are somehow bleached recently.
I have this tank already 2 years.

Can you slowly 'play with your dials' over time (air & water mix) to see whether you can get it to not skim so 'wet'... and have it start to produce more green-gunk? Lol. ;)

So it has started skimming very wet? Do you have pictures of the sps not doing well? It is most likely stn/rtn like burnt tips not bleaching.

Your corals look great in the pic. Are you worried your skimmer is causing your acros to bleach? What is your no3/Po4?
