Looking for a small wave maker / circulation pump for a small 10 gallon tank. I don't need sine wave and stuff, just needs to turn it on and go. But all the ones I've researched seem maybe too powerful? Looking at these 3 best options so far:

  • Fluval CP1 at constant 265gpm , $24. Kinda large for what it is.
  • Sicce Voyager Nano 1000 at constant 270gpm . $37. I think smaller than the Fluval.
  • Hygger Mini Wave Maker adjustable 1600 GPH (5-30 gallon). Link $70. From reviews, it seems like the lowest setting is about the same as the Sicce Nano 1000 at about 270gpm? I think this has the smaller size than Sicce?

Does anyone else have other options I should look at? Or other opinions that might sway one of these options?

For a tank of that size you may be better off with adding a Random Flow Generator to the return line and upgrading the return pump - then you won't even a power head taking up valuable space.

We have them to fit pretty much ever nano tank on the market - what brand tank do you have?

This would be a good option for your 10g.

I also use the tunzi nano stream its a good one.

Another good one I use is the sicce voyager nano in 265 gph and 535 gph, they are both good for small tanks.

I almost forgot, lol.
I run a Jebao ow-10 in my IM15 which after rock and sand only holds 9.5g's. On the lowest setting it doesnot blow the fine Fiji pink sand. It's cheap and has a good controller. I have it set to come on for 30 min then off for 30 min. Works well.

Thanks, I didn't know about that one. For the Jebao OW-10, do you have it set to the lowest setting then? It's listed at 1056 GPM. I'm assuming it's much lower than that on the lowest power setting?

Yes it's set at the first setting on the controller which is 132gph.
