I have had an ATO smart micro for 3 years and it has worked great. It just started pumping water into my tank when the desired level is met. Initially it will fill to the level and stop, but about 15 minutes later it will pump for 20 seconds and then will shut the pump off and start beeping. I understand that is a safety backup. Thankfully it has that function. The sensor looks clean and I took it out and wiped some of the calcium deposit off of it.

Do you think I need to order a new sensor or is there something else that I can do?

First time hearing about smart ato micro malfunctioning. Very much looking forward to your learning. I would suspect the sensor went bad, if it’s repeated phenomenon and try with new sensor.

I am soaking the sensor in vinegar. If that doesn’t work I will order a new sensor

Soaking in vinegar seemed to fix it for now. It has been running for 6 hours now so far so good. There must have been kore calcium deposit on the sensor than I thought

3 years is great for a optical sensor in salt water, impressed.
I 100% agree. That’s why I am just going to replace the sensor. The other great thing is this system fails safe. I came into a beeping noise to let me know that the pump had run for too long.
Great product
