I haven't been able to find out much about the coding capabilites...but I did find lots about issues. 1,700 posts in thier "glitch" forum this month alone. Seems like it needs more maturing time.

It's been around for a couple of years now. They're on the 2nd version of the hub. I think a lot of issues are due to the fact that it works (or is supposed to work) with so many 3rd party pieces of hardware. Smart things only makes about 5-6 pieces of hardware, but there seems to be thousands of additional hardware from other companies.

I got burglarized this week, so I'm going to add Smart Things for security and self monitoring (motion sensors, glass breaks, cameras, alerts, sirens, etc. Once it's all set up, I might do some aquarium integration. I'll at least work in a camera and the ability to shut of my skimmer in case of an overflow.

There is a guy on here (@samparker) who used to (or maybe still) use something called a ninja block? or similar and some code as a kind of DIY controller. I haven't heard how its going in a while but it looked like it worked really well.

It could be cool to use for some non-essential things maybe
