Simple question but I’d rather ask the silly question than fry my corals.

Am I correct in thinking that if I run the 95 watt LED at100% it equals 95 watts. Such that if I run the same light at 50% it equals approximately 47.5 watts?

LED illumination isn’t that straightforward. If the are using pulse width modulation to dim it’s a on/off cycle that would be full power on / zero power off. The trend of total power over time doesn’t equate to max power at a single point in time.

I’m just trying to mimic what light exposure I currently have. I’m running a Red Sea 50 at 90%. If I switch to a 95watt led and run it at 50% it should be close to my Red Sea settings.

If you want to swap without any light acclimation period you will need to take PAR readings for your tank. I learned the hard way that wattage for LED does not equal PAR value. I use the photone app if I’m checking PAR. I don’t feel like it needs to be perfect so I didn’t buy/rent one of the expensive meters
