Hey was just wondering if anyone has ever had their snails lay eggs and had them grow and hatch? If so is there any thing I will need to do to help them along or just keep doing what I'm doing because I would think they are happy and healthy.

How long did it take for them to hatch? And do I need to dose calk for the shells or will they get most of that from just the left over foods?

You don't have to do anything special or dose. Just make sure everything is stable and there are no big swings but gradual adjustments if needed. try to keep around those magic numbers and youll be fine. Cal - 450, Mag - 1350-1400, dKH - 7.0-12.0, pH - 8.0-8.4 and salinity at about 1.025

Kewl... I checked this morning when light came back on and there were more eggs I think I have 3-4 laying in the same spot. Its kinda kewl since I got this tank as a rescue about 10 days ago and they are happy enough to start laying. how long dose the process typically take I will try and track it as much as possible to show here.

I never kept track of the process. As I assumed most of the time the eggs were eaten. If your diligent maybe you could track the process and document the length

Sorry about the updates no babies this time but they started to lay again yesterday so maybe this time. I just don't know what to do to help get them to hatch. or where they all went?? but its staring again so I will see in about a week when they stop if something is eating them or what's going on.

I have seen this many times and without trying I end up on occasion some baby snails. Not nearly as many as the eggs that are laid mind you but a few.

I don't have a sump Its a 10 gal Nano with a HOB Filter. I think my sea horse keeps eating them. but I cant take out the plant and put it in a different tank bc the sea horse uses it as its home and hitching point. but I will keep looking. they started laying on the glass in a corner that nothing can get there so maybe those one will be ok.

LOL Yeah I'm just happy to see that I'm doing something right that they are laying eggs. or they are hatting life and think they are going to die so they are trying to repopulate before its to late. either way its fun to watch the progression.
