Snake Experts! ID PLEASE

It rained this morning and we couldn't go out, so my wife and I was outside for our nightly walk...

We noticed this little tiny thing...we thought it was a worm...come to find out, it's a snake.

It was barely noticable, but it had scales and eyes. The eyes looked clear/white, but were realllllly small.

I live in Florida...

I noticed something really strange about this snake... the tail was sort of blunt and almost looked like a head...the tail had this small spike on it. It wasn't enough to poke me and cause damage, but I certainly felt it.

I originally figured it was a baby due to its size...but I actually started to believe it was a fully grown adult based on its movements/actions.

I ended up finding out what it is...but I want to see if any snake experts have any idea as to what this thing was :) It's a very interesting little guy!! I have never heard of one of these before and I had figured I knew a lot about snakes...good luck!

Thanks! I moisturize with regular hand soap when I shower and I also wear latex gloves in my line of work which hold sweat inside and re-absorb back into my hands!

It's a mudsnake (spike on the tail), completely harmless and they have a strange diet.

I used to be really into snakes when I was a kid, always catching, keeping, and breeding wild snakes. Couldn't keep mud snakes, but caught a couple and releases them. Should have an intend red belly, and show it to you when threatened.

If full grown it may also be a worm snake, which is basically a mini mudsnake. Not as difficult to feed though.

From the information I gathered... the name "mudsnake" doesn't show up. I'm not saying you're wrong...but doesn't seem to be the right snake :)

That's probably it, didn't know much about that one...after reading the name I remembered reading a small blurb about it before, had completely forgotten about that one as I've never seen one in person.

Never seen one before this either..I've seen a few ring neck snakes and figured it may be one of those...that was until I got into a lit area and noticed that there was no ring! :)

What a neat snake! I've done some research and found that there are no FOUND males...and they may not need a male to reproduce...really neat.
