Sneaky Pete… IM15g Build.
MTS (multi tank syndrome) has struck again! This is the story on how I snuck another tank into the house in plain sight.
It all started when the Dice aquarium stand was on clearance. I felt for sixty bucks I can always use it for housing electronics or storage and it matches my other cabinets in the fish room. Then IM announced their plans for a price increase, so on the final day I pulled the trigger on the IM15g. When this tank was released I was excited about it, but at the time I had a Fijicube 10g. That tank was only one inch smaller all around so it would not have been much gain. Now one other factor that influenced my decision was I was going to be a vendor at Reefapalooza CA. this year. While I have many tanks, they are all small and I needed room for some extra corals. I also have some Rainbow BTA’s that started to split. So my logical decision was to throw my breeding pair of clowns and my Rainbows in the new tank. Somehow the other half didn’t realize this was happening until it was up and running. I mean, she saw the delivery’s, we talked about how it would make sense to move the anemones and the clowns, but the warning light never went on in the dashboard.
So this is it, tank No.6…
Let’s go over the equipment I used.
Tank: Innovative Marine 15g AIO cube.
Stand: Maxspect Dice.
Return Pump: Sicce 1.0
Heater: Helios 100w
Light: Giesemann Minox Marine
ATO: FZ aqua
RFG: VCA
Rock: Prior bleached scape from my old 10g and a few pieces of live rock from my 30g.
Sand: Rinsed special grade from my 30g.
I was able to set this tank up as a insta-tank using the sand and few pieces of rock from my 30g. I also used local NSW for the extra boost of goodies. I started off with putting in the sand, rock and water at the beginning of the weekend. Sunday night I tested for any ammonia which was pretty much nil. I threw in a couple of the anemones that were on the glass and a snail, plus a rock that had a mussel and a turkey leg clam on it. All was good by weeks end and I decided to put in the rest of the nems in plus the clown fish. The female was easy to catch, but the male was another story. He was distressed that she was missing and was evading capture. After a couple days of her not eating and him also not eating because he would run for cover if I got near the tank. I decided I had to tear apart my frag tank to get him. I kept on telling him it was in his best interest, but he was not having it. Well after a wet mess, they are together. Their world is right again.
