So I woke up this morning to snow and temps dropping throughout the day and a day off work because of it. So what a great time to work on the tank taking care of things I’ve put off.
Started with a water change, cleaned all the viewing glass, and checked pumps and etc. for a couple of months now I’ve had 3 frag racks on the front glass, so I mounted and relocated frags, tossed a couple of sps that died out after a swing in parameters a while back. I had been hoping to see life return to them but that wasn’t happening. Now I’m down to one rack relocated to the side that is holding a few more sps frags I’m crossing my fingers on, but it’s not looking great.
But for the first time in a while, the whole front is viewable and looking decent.
Just thought I’d share my morning.

Up along WI border the pending Blizzard has started. On same page with mrpontiac, it is a good day for tank maintenance. Just finished QT tank clean up, water change. Display tank is tomorrow. This afternoon working on setting up my early Christmas gift to self... 4head Dosing pump. Time to start automating.

BTW - Great Looking Tank Mr.P

Lol, I’m in north west Arkansas so not too bad here. I’m getting the bottom edge of the storm in the center of the US right now.

We just dropped from 59 to 27 in about 30 minutes.

Supposed to be around 12 tonight... pretty bad for us, but no moisture.

What do you do that you get a snow day? -10 and 18" of snow and still working, outside. Well, in a frozen crawl space of new construction installing HVAC ducts. Same for when I was a heavy equipment mechanic, didn't matter how cold or how much snow, work must be done, lol.

I do hvac too. Service mostly but there are a few of us to get calls that come in in our area. Either way I’m not complaining

I wonder what you guys make. My AC went out in my brand new house and it cost me $600 for 30 minutes of work even with warranty and discount for old fan.

Where I live no union so pay is not great, think just over panda Express wages. And no snow days, lol. And I do multi million dollar home full custom HVAC installs, no flex. Multiple multi ton a systems, wine chiller rooms, blah, blah, blah. We custom make all the hard duct to fit these homes, in house. Easier work than heavy equipment but significant less pay/benefits

Well I don’t make enough…. But honestly for my region I live in I’m doing alright. But just like everything else, you’re paying for the tech’s wages, shop overhead, gas and travel expenses to drive all over the area and parts. And of course the better the tech, the less time it takes so your paying for the knowledge too ;)

Are those star polyps on the back wall? Looks like a big green sun rise. I really like it.
Yes they are green star polyps or GSP for the newbies. I much prefer them than spots of Coraline all over the glass. I also have a green monti cap, lepto, and cyphastria on the back glass

Our vehicle fuel bill for 6 teams and 2 assist vehicles was $6 k one month. That's a lot of overhead for a small business

Yeah the fuel costs are crazy. We try to schedule service calls in an order for logistics but some days I’m driving 45 min to each call right after the other. I’m in north west AR and one day I worked in OK, MO, and of course AR. That was a lot of window time that’s not free

I really like it! It definitely has the power if par is what you’re after. Mine is currently 65% at peak power and gives me 250 to 300 par at the top of rocks.
the ramps up and down are not as smooth visually as AI ( I have no experience with Radion). But it work’s fantastic. Another thing is that the fans almost never ever have to kick on so it is silent. I guess the body is basically a big heat sink.
