So, are there any other snowboarders in this lot? If so, what do you ride?

Me, I favor the new Morrow Blaze 151.

Sorry, I can 't wait to get on the mountain this weekend and am getting psyched up

i snowboard! but not competitive or anything like that, just like to cruuuze around. ;)

i broke my leg pretty bad my 2nd year snowboarding, essentially was still learning. a 12-year old kid on ski's doing the "snowplow" down the mountain hit the side of me, and knocked me off the trail and i tumbled down a cliff while still strapped into my board. i was eventually stopped by a big tree hitting my left knee.

it was pretty ugly, i tore a bunch of cartilage, a ligament, and a bone. was on crutches for 4 months and had to have surgery. and will prob have to have surgery again soon b/c my knee is killing me.

mostly b/c of that, i choose not to do any jumping or any fancy stuff cuz i have a huge brace on my knee to remind me not to do anything stupid. just like to cruze around. i still have not got a helmet yet, but i really should.

not sure of the popularity status of the board i have, i just know i got it one summer for 75% off! its an "Arbor Heritage" board. it looked cool for the right price back in 2001. ;) although, now i'm thinking it is too big for me. i find it hard to turn now, and not as manuverable as i'd like...so i figure i might need something shorter. (or have it worked on)...it has a 66 on it...whatever that means.

i use Flow bindings, and am starting not to like them either since they have broke a couple of times. but it may be that i am using a size 15 boot. lol (also 75% off)....i'm thinkin my steering abilities and life of my bindings may improve if a get a smaller boot...i really wear a size 13, but they didnt have any instock for sale when i got the others.

i bet you guys get great weather up in oregon. i'm in the appalachian mountains in western virginia. we have a pretty good place called Snowshoe Mtn, WV near here. but we've had a couple of very mild winters the past 2-3years.

maybe one day when i can afford it i can make it out to colorado. :)

I would Love to hit Colorado. and I must admit, I"ve only been baording fro about a year, I 'm still a little sloppy myself

i'm not that great by any means. all that matters is that i can make it down a black diamond (east coast style) without falling, which makes the experience much more enjoyable.

i tried teaching my g/f to snowboard 2 years ago, and she broke her wrist in the snowboarding school. lol...... last year went better though.

i had a student who was a semi-professional snowboarder, he was sponsored by nitro and burton. had customized boards/bindings. pretty cool stuff. but it came with a price, as he had a history of 9 concussions, 1 causing a major seizure. but none of that seemed to slow him down.

based on my neuropsych evaluations on him, i told him he's VERY lucky to not have brain damage. and that the next head injury he gets could leave him in a wheel chair or with serious brain damage. so what does he do? he goes down to Miami and goes water skiing, and hit a water bouy(sp?) in the ocean. he had to drop out of school, had surgery to relieve brain swelling, and now has serious learning dissabilities as well as problems seeing.

.......just reminds me of how dangerous snowboarding can be...

I love snowboarding!!!! I ride an older Nitro Nova 156 that Ive had for 3-4 years now. Ive been boarding since I was 13(now 23) and was skiing before that at around 8-9. Not really into the big jumps or halfpipes, more into back country and LOTS and LOTS of powder!! I dont get up as much as I used to, but still make time to go at least 5-6 times a year.

Havent been hurt yet(nock on wood)....but have been with 3 different freinds on 3 different occasions when they all broke their Collar Bones. I always thought a helmet was lame when I was younger but ride with one at all times now. Its just too risky with how many people are on the slopes nowdays. Plus its the best for head warmth!:D

Hows the snow out east? Ive been to Cali and Utah but havent been anywhere out east. If youve never been to Colorado your missing out big, but if I had to choose, I would probably go with Utah:o

Hey Surfn, how tall are you? That 66 probably meens its 166cm. Thats a pretty big board and I bet thats why you have trouble turning. Im 6-1 and ride a 156.

Some shops know how to trim down the nose and tail. Ive done it on a couple of boards and it works pretty good.
