I have just bought a small snowflake eel and currently in a 13g for a few days until my lid arrives, I noticed he “burrows” into the sand and has made the tank very cloudy to the point I don’t even know where he has gone?
in an established tank if he kicks the sand bed up it will cause major spikes for deep sand bed atleast?

There's very little chance of him doing any harm. Most sand beds these days don't get to the point where they produce hydrogen sulfide- even if there were a deep undisturbed layer in a mature tank, it's unlikely that he's going to stir up the entire sand bed all at once. If anything, if you had any anaerobic environments, he will slowly turn the sand over.

The tank he is gonna be in doesn’t have as deep of a sand bed but I feel it’ll just be cloudy for weeks

I have one and he hasn’t dug any sand. He has picked a favorite rock, with holes, and stays there. He pokes his head out when it is time to eat.

Mine might’ve dug as the tank doesn’t have much hiding places as it’s only for a few days, in the main tank it’s going in there will be much more rock and lots of holes for him to hide in and around

How much does yours eat and how Often?
Just fed mine for the first time, only wanted half of a one inch fish
Here’s a photo of mine, looks like he was digging the sand to get underneath that rock, tank is still a bit cloudy and glass needs to be cleaned

I tried clams but he didn’t really show that much interest. He would tear at it but that was about it. I feed krill right now. He comes out in the morning and evening when I feed everyone. He will usually eat 2 at each feeding, if he wants them. I am no expert and learning as I go. Lol

Yeah he's only digging to make himself a den, that's not what they do all the time.

Here;s a good thread to read through when you get time'

Just went to see my eel this morning and the bit of fish he “ate” yesterday is on the sand bed being eaten by some crabs, he snapped at it from the feeding stick and it looked like he ate it though?
Maybe he spat it back out when he was in his den?
I probably should’ve waited a day after adding him until feeding it but I was excited to watch him eat

Me too! It took a couple of days for mine to come out and eat. It is still new and he is getting settled in.
