I'm only starting to get fish and am realizing I've got a lot of fish food I've bought. And yet I still struggle with "So what am I going to give them now?" And end up defaulting to the same few foods.

So how much fish food do you have and what are some of your absolute favorites? Herbies, Carnies and those that go both ways.

I kept a few flakes, but mostly used mysis shrimp and nori sheets!

Also consider that it goes stale just over time. Buy what you can use before it does.

I need more frozen foods! I only have mysis, brine, and veggie cubes. My fish will definitely be a mix of herbis and carnies. I've also been soaking some of the foods with coral food (like Reef Roids and Chilli and stuff) and spot dressing corals with that. The bigger pieces obviously float away for the fish.

Do you always activate feed mode on your pumps? One problem I have is my return pumps, both Innovative Marine, are only controllable in person. And my 170 tank has an Orca, ReefWave, MP40. That's 3 different programs to open to activate feed mode!

My fish show the most frenzy for the vitalis marine flake, then frozen, then pellets.

I have reef jerky in the avast plank. They like that as well, but I dose once or twice extra manual with the flakes, frozen or pellets mostly because I like to watch them.

TDO pellets, frozen mysis, and nori sheets. Covers everyone.

I have two different flakes ,3 different pellets , and multiple packs of frozen plus nori

I have probably 5 or 6 16oz flats each of mysis, spirulina brine, ocean plankton and blood worms, plus a giant container of Hikari seaweed extreme pellets, PE mysis pellets, brine shrimp direct flakes, fenbendazole treated flakes, and 2-3 100 sheet packs of nori. Needless to say my fish won’t die from starvation.

PE Mysis frozen, TDO pellets, Saki-Hikari Marine herbivore pellets, and dKi pellets (all my fish love the PE mysis but I consider the pellets their daily vitamins) on a daily basis. Jumbo Hikari mysis twice a week for the BTA's in their dedicated tank plus some into the main tank...my marine bettas go crazy for these. Nori once/twice a week. Tried many foods since I set up my tank 3+ years ago. What I have listed are the only fish foods I currently buy.

Pellets in auto feeder tiny amount three times daily, then manually feed either flakes, frozen and , or Nori daily at least once. I plan to get avast plank so I can feed freeze dried cleaner foods instead rather than pellets on auto feeder (po4 bombs)

TDO small and mermaid delight. Only two I use. Also go some silicone small ice cube trays from Amazon makes about 3rd of a normal size cube you get from Hikari. Very nice way to portion control easily

I have an Avast plank that I use when out of town. I've found the use of that can be a "PO4 bomb" 😄 First thing I test for when back home.

I typically keep 5 packs of various San Franscico Bay brand cubes. The tank gets one of each variety every day, so 5 cubes per feeding. I put in a nori sheet almost every day so the tangs and trigger can go nuts.

Never bothered with 'feed mode' on my pumps. At this point I wouldn't even know how to do it. 🤣

2 different pellets, few different types of frozen just different shrimp or formulas and nori

I’m definitely in the minority on this topic. I have about 12 flat packs of frozen food ( plankton, mysis, blood worms and spirilina brine etc in my freezer and about 10 different freeze dried and flake foods. I usually feed a lot of different foods each day.

The current menu I offer my two tiny fish (Coral Beauty and Whitespotted Pygmy Filefish) includes

Ocean Nutrient Formula One flakes
Ocean Nutrient Formula Two flakes
BRS Pearl pellets
BRS Pellets
dki Premium Pellets (the only pellets the Filefish will eat)
PE Pellets (haven't tried them yet)
Hikari Seaweed Extreme
SFBB Spirulina Brine (frozen)
SFBB Mysi s(frozen)
SFBB Seaweed Delight (frozen)
SFBB Gum Drops Brine (frozen)
BRS Freeze Dried Krill
PE Mysis (small, haven't tried yet)
Reef Roids
Reef Jerky
Freeze Dried Calanus

Actually there's more I can't even remember anymore! I went overboard, clearly, and am just confusing myself.
