I just picked up the Eshopps R100 for my 75 gallon mixed reef. Right now I have some macro algae in the fuge with an IM fuge light that I've been running at night for 6 hours at a time. I have a skimmer in the skimmer section and will be putting a heater in that chamber as well. I know there's lots of options for refugiums, and I just dont know where to start. I'd like to mainly use it for nutrient export (cyano is starting to grow in the DT), but am open to other ideas too. Ive always just run a sump with a skimmer. So what can I add to the fuge? Snails? Copes? Other critters? Rock? Sand? GFO/other reactors? Can I add too much? Do I need to clean it out once in a while? What do you use yours for?

Just start with Chato and see what happens.

Don’t overthink it. Let it evolve.
