If it's and nylon mesh sock.

(lol)
I loath felt socks and the nylon socks are real easy to clean.
A lot of reefers keep a bunch of felt socks and rotate them, then they use the washer machine to clean their felt socks.

It's Nylon Mesh.

I'm not sure how I feel about liking so many posts from a Vol fan lol.

Also, would it matter if i went with the Red Sea ones, them being like 1 inch shorter? Guess that would leave room for me to put my Purigen underneath that and make sure it gets good water flow over it.

I'm far too impatient to wait for this dang protein skimmer to break in. I want it running correctly without the dang micro bubbles. I was thinking maybe I could put some kind of filter material or sponge at the divider of the skimmer section and the return section that would catch more bubbles. Is that a horrible idea?

Some time I don’t start a system, but here are my 2cents...
Lose the socks. You don’t need, at least during first days.
Shut the return pump wait for the water stop running from the tank and if needed fill the sump until all compartments are equally leveled + 3-4 fingers.
Then start the return pump and wait for the system to get steady and then place the ATO sensor to that level.
If you start getting low water at the sump it’s because the return circuit his clogged or undersized for the return pump flow.
