Late to the party, but I tried a calcium reactor and had to bring in outside air to keep ph up. Dipped below 7.85 at night. I made a collection cup with a hole drilled in the top to drip effluent into and it reads 6.5 ph. I started running my kalk reactor as make-up and I am dripping it into same collection cup so now the ph dripping out of the cup is about 8.2. Does the Kalk help strip the CO2? My Ph is staying a little more stable at 7.95 all night. Should I drip Kalk higher to raise PH . I do get precipitated Kalk in the bottom of collector that I will just dispose of when it starts to accumulate

Yes. The OH- in limewater (kalkwasser) combines with bicarbonate to make carbonate and carbonic acid to make bicarbonate.

Dripping kalk or using a very high pH two part can be a fine way to help raise pH.
