It was suggested to me on another topic that I dose sodium nitrate to slightly raise my nitrates. My nitrates have been stuck at 0ppm for months, and my LPS and Softies have had a decline in growth. Is there a recommended dosing amount or schedule that anyone has found useful?

Use the link here for Potassium Nitrate
http://www.theplantedtank.co.uk/calculator.htm

Then multiply the result by 0.84 to convert it from Potassium Nitrate to Sodium Nitrate.

I’d probably aim for 1-2 ppm per day dosed and see what happens.

Hi. I would like to switch from Potassium Nitrate to Sodium Nitrate.

Which result from the following do I change to convert it to Sodium Nitrate?

Tank volume: 175 gallons
Amount to add: 162 grams of Potassium Nitrate
RO/DI water to mix: 1500 ml
Each 10 ml of Potassium Nitrate will raise Nitrates by 1 ppm.

Thanks

I doubt you need to change anything, but if you want to be a perfectionist , use 8.5 mL in the last line instead of 10.
