have had a solar fairy wrasse for at least 2+ years. he usually always swam at top of water column and wasn't a hider. About 3 weeks ago i added a sailfish tang to the tank (150 gal) and all was fine. A week later i notice out of know where the wrasse isn't out anymore. I found him hiding in the rocks. comes out sometimes with food and eats a bit then back to the rocks, all day. Been about 2 weeks of this. Did the sailfish scare him or something??? he hasn't chased the wrasse or anything neither has anyone else i can tell. Any idea? Nothing else new or changed with tank and no swing in parameters. the wrasse was a good 3-4 in in size 2 so not small.

Something's got him spooked. Sailfins can be intimidating, sailfins and all.

Awe crud. So sorry for your loss.

Darn. That stinks. By any chance was he old when you got him (i.e., end of natural life in captivity?) In any case, if you add a new Wrasse now, maybe he wouldn’t be ‘shocked’ at the addition of the Sailfin— who will already be there? Just thinking out loud, because will probably miss having a Wrasse.
