Solomon Islands percula clowns

I suspect that you'll see black develop between the first and second stripe, but maybe not between the second and third stripe. In my experience, when the black fades into the orange (like we see between the first and second stripe) then there is a higher likelihood of the black filling in, but when it is a more abrupt change (like we see between the second and third stripe) then it may not fill in at all.
Noted!! I’ll keep this thread updated with pictures as they age, I’m curious to see if they ever get black between the second and third stripe now!!

Something to note is that wild onyx clownfish can change colors (more or less black) based on environmental conditions, versus the C-Quest Onyx that have their color "baked" in. Blasting your clownfish with lots of light and giving them a gig as a host might help pull out more of the black coloration (some have reported that magnifica have the opposite affect, but that's purely anecdotal).

Noted!! These guys are in a relatively new biocube, so a gig isn’t in their near future, but I’m hoping to be in a place where I can have a larger tank in the next few years and get them one.

After a little over a month in the tank, these two are still doing well! They’ve filled out a bit with some pretty heavy feeding, and it even looks like they may have added on a bit of length. I recently finished stocking the tank, so they now live with a yellow watchman goby/tiger pistol shrimp pair, a purple firefish, tail spot blenny, and fire shrimp.

About 10 months in and they’ve definitely gotten bigger and filled out significantly. The female (bottom fish in both pictures) is also getting more black which is awesome!

Those are stunning clowns! Your tailspot photo bombs like mine.
