In case it helps anyone, I’ve seen similar frustrations that the ProStar standpipes are equal heights and do not allow for surface skimming when the silencers are attached. If the silencers are removed it gets noisy.
I found a solution that makes me almost 100% happy. Remove silencer from one stand pipe and tune it like you would a herbie overflow (start with drain fully open and gradually close valve until noise stops). Keep the other valve fully open with silencer on. The surface water will drain through the non-silenced overflow and skim it.
