Everyone says it's impossible, but I think I've killed my gsp and xenia. I have Duncans, blasto, ricordeas and a small cyphastrea frag in the same tank and they are all doing great - I even saw a new polyp on the blasto this morning.

The gsp arrived covered in a fine brown dust, looked like diatoms. I did a dip with koral MD and added them to the tank. A single polyp opened a few days after arrival, but never again after that. Tried dipping with lugols and then peroxide to get it back to health and to get rid of the algae, respectively, but no dice. I tried cleaning the base with a soft paintbrush, that didn't seem to help. I'm guessing all the dips did more harm than good. Today the base started turning white and I'm seeing some tissue degradation. I put the gsp in a high flow area but is there any way to save them? Photo is under white light.

As for the xenia, there's no helping those, they are long dead. Just mentioning them in case maybe their demise is a symptom of some bigger issue. They never really stopped sulking after shipping and I don't think it helped with the urchin kidnapping it for a hat. A couple days later, I saw the urchin snacking on them. I pulled it away but I think they had been dead already, bc they fell off their bit of rubble the next day.

I've been having a heck of a time with red fuzzy cyano, likely due to a flow issue, but I've since added a wavemaker and the urchin has been taking care of the rest.
