This is confusing, see if you can help, this zoa used to be the happiest coral in my tank, very bold very out there now its reclusive and not opening all the way i wish i had a photo of what it was like before, it just never opens fully and never seems as big as it was before its like 50% open all the time

general things that change their mood:

Change in lighting
change in water flow
Phosphate or nitrate elevated
Salinity too high or low
Lack of iodide ( they convert iodide into iodine needs)
Pests such as zoa spider or nudibranch
Mulm or detritus all over them ( try gentle burst with a turkey baster)
Fish or invert picking at them

Nitrite 0
Calcium 440
dKH 8
Phosphate 0.25
Temp 78-80
Ph, 8.1
Its been in the same place for about 13 months changing flow once in a while but no differences we dose 1 drop of Iodine every week

What test kits are you using ?
One drop of iodine insufficient and iodide more warranted than iodine.

Api, ive never heard of iodide? What exactly is that
API is notorious for false reading disappointing and letting down many reefers. I'd suggest taking a water sample to a trusted Store that does NOT use API kits and see what results they come up with and to compare with yours

Iodide:
Iodide is an important element required by invertebrates and many soft corals such as zoa, gorgonians, sarcophytons, etc. Potassium iodide only products are a safer alternative but not very effective alone owing to the unstable nature of iodide in the aquarium environment. When added to an aquarium environment, iodide becomes unstable converting to elemental iodine.
