I have a 60 gal tank with a center overflow and a external Dolphin Amp Master pump returning the water through 4 1" returns - with all the plumbing, elbows roughly 8 ft of head or 800 gals/hr flow. Instead of using the stock 1" return in the overflow, I drilled a 1.5" hole in the back and have a modified durso out the back of the tank. This setup handles the flow but barely and I have it as quiet as I think I can get it but was curious if I can get it almost silent (my future tank will be herbie/bean).
I was looking at these:

I would install one right above the overflow and one right behind the overflow. My fear is that the salt rich environment would deteriorate these things and drop particles right into the water - lord knows what types of chemicals these things are made of?
Anyone done anything similar?
