I know I can order from BRS or similar suppliers, but if I was to look for it locally, where should I start? Not looking for lower grade driveway icemelt. I am thinking more like the high grade stuff BRS sells...

your local redimix company. LOL

Seriously, calcium chloride is used to help harden concrete at lower temperatures. I went to one redimix here and they had 25 pound bags of cal-chlor(?) for $8-9 or so. They asked what I'm using it for and just gave me a bag. Cal-chlor is the anhydrous form that is 92%+ pure. Similiar to kent trubo calcium. I also got a 50 pound bag of dow flake years ago from another redimix company for $22 or so.

I then found an industrial chemical supplier who have calcium chloride and would ship in at no charge magnesium chloride both in 50 pounds bags. It was like $30-50 or so for both bags total.

I gave that stuff away at local meetings and received no complaints.
