Is there any type of fish or gobies that feast on spaghetti worms? I don't have a spaghetti worm issue but I see some and was just wondering if there where any natural predators for them.. can keep my ecosystem going...

I'm not sure on predators. I've never seen them get picked on by any fish. However, they are good for your aquarium and the number of them will wax and wane with the amount of food available.

Some Wrasses will eat them, some shrimp might. Personally I don't mind them in the sump but I don't care for them in the display.

oh, my! They are infinitely helpful! And a boom of them - at worst - indicates you may have a bit of trouble in your feeding or nutrient control habits. These worms don't grow from thin air, or sterile water as it were. If they flourish, they are eating something. Put another way...you can watch them flourish or you can kill them off and watch nuisance algae sponge of what they were eating ;)

Are you sure they are Spaghetti worms? Can you post a pic?

feel free to pull a bunch of them out of your tank and ship them to me :) I take all kinds and could use more diversity in my sandbeds anyway.

+1

You want them. Don't get rid of them. And if you do, send them to me.

Post pictures of these "pests". We all want them.

Butterfly fish will eat them readily, but that's pretty wasteful for such a helpful critter.

thanks for all the info all. My tank doesn't have an abundance of spaghetti worms but I see them here and there and here and there and I was just wondering.. Being that they are extremely beneficial, I think I will just let them be.
I'll try get a photo for positive ID...

I have a bunch of them in my tank, they don't bother me one bit. I know of a reefer who was trying to cultivate them because he wanted to keep bubble shell snails and from what I understand most bubble shell's only eat the spaghetti worms.

hope i was able to load the image... spaghetti worms??

The first pic worked, second said photo not available. I looked at the first pic and saw you had another in the same album so here it is. All you need to do is copy the code on Photobucket and then paste it here.

When you do you need to "Go Advanced" when replying as there is a glich on the forum that doesn't allow your first pic to be loaded unless you preview your post first. We are working on that though.
