The day I’ve been waiting for has finally come! I’ve had this pair of black snowflake clowns for at least 5 years. A few weeks ago I bumped the temperature up in the tank and started feeding heavier. Looks like it worked. I ordered everything that I’ll need to raise the fry and I’ll try and keep this thread updated.

They ate a lot of eggs but I think this is their first, maybe second time spawning, so that’s to be expected. I should have everything setup and ready for the next time they lay.

how do you plan on catching the hatched fry? I’ve seen a lot of people using a flashlight and scooping them out, just wondering how efficent that method is. does anyone have any experience with a larval trap Like this one ?

I’m actually pretty concerned about the wrasses getting to them all. The Earls already harassed them, trying to get at the eggs. I decided to get a sheet of acrylic and cut it to size so I can trap them on the opposite side of the tank on the night of. I’m just going to use a bowl to gently scoop up the fry with some tank water. It’s how I did it the last time I raised them and it seemed to work fairly well, with a low die off rate.

Look forward to seeing the updates! i hope to have a breeding pair in the next couple months and would like to try raising them. Did you have to cycle your fry tank Prior to adding the fry ?

I’m waiting on the foam filters to come in now but I’ll just place them in the main tanks sump until I transfer the fry to it. I’ll also use water from the tank the parents are in for the fry tank. No cycle needed as there’s no rock and the water gets changed often.

Not raising any from this clutch but it’s fun to see the progress and get their schedule figured out for the next spawn event.
I got the rotifers and phytoplankton buckets going today. Waiting on a few things to come in but it will do for now.

I can see some eyes in the eggs today
