Can you use sponge filter and air stones for saltwater aquariums
 
Can you or should you? There are much better ways to run saltwater tanks. Why would you want to use air stone and sponges?
 
Salt creep would be a major issue.
What's the thoughts behind using a sponge?
If it's oxygenation, point a powerhead at water surface.
Skimmer should keep system sufficiently oxygenated anyway
