Lately yellow sponge start taking over and covering my bird nest base. I read somewhere before this type of sponge is a pest and start worrying. Anyone here have any experience dealing this sponge and please advise. More details shown in the attached pictures.

Another thing, the bird nest is placed at the tank bottom and slightly shaded area.

Is it killing the BN or just growing on dead branches? I've had sponges growing deep in the shaded areas/base of Seriatopora but never had them do any harm to the living parts.

Used to be growing on the dead branches, but it seems to elevated up to consume the live branches....do have pix to share so i can compare if your sponges are s similar or can u confirm if my sponge is similar to your case...thanks in advance.
