I found a small patch of dark red (algae/??) that's got a spongy texture and when I removed some, it seems like the underside is white-ish and stuck to the rock. (Kind of like peeling the top "skin" off cooked pudding.)
Is this another form of cyano or something else?

Cyano is like a blanket it does not realy stick you can dislodge it with a turkey baster.
Yeah, I know... which is why I'm not sure what this is. If I forcefully blow water at it with a baster, it does come loose a bit, but not like the cyano I've had in the past.
