The problem comes when you haven't run carbon for a long time and then when you do your coral get more light since the water is clearer and you can strip the water of too much doc's.

I run this stuff in a reactor and its great. SPS have never had an issue with it. I also run a uv sterilizer on my aquarium. So water is really clear. This stuff rinses real quick and last for a long time in a reactor.

Yep, something can always have an effect on someone one way or another. Our hobby is pretty much completely open ended. Hence my signature.

I run about 4 cups or more in a reactor and change every month.

Just an update to this thread. I have been again running Rox Carbon. I’m not making the mistake I did originally. I now run less than a half of cup on a 140 gallon water volume system.

I made the mistake last time of running over a cup on my system that I hadn’t run Carbon in for awhile. That is something you should avoid.

I am very happy with it now. Thanks all.

I am thinking of starting to run Rox so I am going to follow along and would like to see any updates if people have them on if theyre still running it and how their SPS are doing

I'm running 2 tbls of rox carbon. 70 gal total system. Lots of Acro's. No issues running this small amount.

1/2c ROX ina spectra pure dual reactor (the gfo portion is not being used) so it’s essentially a single reactor with the outflow dialed back to about 1/2.

Change out about once a month, every 6 weeks.

I’ve got a 5 gallon bucket of ROX, been using for years. It’s VERY effective so don’t use more than half the BRS recommended amount and change every 2-3 weeks for best results.

Change out about once a month, every 6 weeks.

Put some filter floss in the GFO chamber, it will prevent the ROX from clogging prematurely.

I am going back to running some rox, nutrients are higher and I would like a little more light to get through the water. I am definitely going to start slow. When my system was used to running it and was low nutrient I could run a lot of this at once but I have always used a mesh bag and not a reactor. Reactors are good for the larger carbons but I could never run this stuff in a reactor without making a mess.

thinking about running a small about of rox in my reactor that I just have sitting idle, because I can see my water is getting a little yellow/green tint to it.

I am thinking of starting at around 1/2 cup for around 250 gallons of water.

I run a couple cups of it on my 255 and change out about once a month
